NOLA Dogs Charitable Giving is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization whose sole purpose is to raise money for animal rescue. We are an ALL volunteer group committed to raising money to better the lives of animals in South Louisiana. We raise money to help responsible 501(c)(3) no kill rescue groups pay vet bills and cover other needed expenses related to animal care.
Founded in 2019, we bring together small donors to create a powerful, collective impact for local, no-kill rescue groups.

The Inner Pup provides critical support to low-income pet families through:
- Community clinics (34 in 2025)
- 1,799 pet visits
- 15,387 months of heartworm prevention distributed
- 172 dogs currently in heartworm treatment

how we began
In 2008, JoAnne and Dan Casey agreed to foster a dog from Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO). Pearl very quickly became a foster fail. She had been rescued by an ARNO volunteer as a newborn pup after Katrina. Knowing nothing about rescues or their needs, JoAnne started asking questions. ARNO needed lots of supplies so JoAnne started donating food and laundry supplies to ARNO and then started donating items to Zeus' Rescues as well. At some point, she thought there has to be a better way to make a difference in the lives of the rescue organizers so that they can focus on saving animals and getting them needed vet care, foster care and adoptions. Although not a runner, JoAnne organized the first NOLA Dogs Race to the Rescue 5K. NOLA Dogs raises funds by producing the NOLA Dogs Race, participating in Give NOLA Day, and holding the NOLA Dogs auction. To date we'veraised and donated $225,000 to no kill animal rescue organizations in South Louisiana who receive no government funding. We put together small donations and bundle them into impactful grants. Whether you can donate $5 or $50,000, we are asking for your support. Together we can make a huge difference in the lives of dogs and cats that desperately need our help.
Signature Event
NOLA Dogs Race to the Rescue 5K & Auction is our largest annual fundraiser supporting animal rescue is held each October at Heaven’s Pets in Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.
name change
In December of 2025, we have officially changed our name from NOLA Girl Charitable Giving to NOLA Dogs Charitable Giving to better reflect our mission.
